Great Site.  I am proud to be a part of this family and and can only hope that one day when Aidan is older he can fully understand the wonderful, brilliant person his name is associated with.  Keep up the great work Brian, Aunt Mary and Uncle Marty

I'm so happy to get an update on the award and hope that you will be happy with the process at UTampa. As a proud graduate of an Honors Program, I can say that such places are very special for bright, motivated people--just as Tim was.

I have been thinking a lot about Tim as the anniversary of his death draws closer. When I found out Tim was gone almost two years ago, I was 4 months pregnant with my son and it had been a couple of years since I had seen Tim. I had thought we would have plenty of time to meet up in London or Prague or wherever.  Now my son is almost 19 months old. It's crazy how fast the time goes.

Mary, Marty, and Brian, thanks so much for your work on this. I know that Tim would be so happy to know that he was helping people expand their minds through travel. I still miss him but know he is with us in his own way.

Our family has every desire to continue giving an award for creative writing to an undergraduate so they can also get inspiration though travel as did Tim.  Tim loved travel and it just seemed to inspire him which is evident with his writings and pictures that we have put on this site.

We desire a more personal approach to this award and want the student that receives this award to appreciate the value of what we are trying to achieve.

Therefore, we plan on giving the 2005 Inspiration through Exploration Award in memory of Timothy M. Smith to an undergraduate at the University of Tampa. We will start the process of selecting the recipient so that the award can be given for travel over the summer of 2005.

Our desire is to also look into other channels that will help young people grow in the area of their creative writing.  If any of you reading this have ideas, please feel free to e-mail us.

Thank you - The Smith Family
